Special Memorial Service

Aloha,

On behalf of Koboji Shingon Mission, we warmly invite you to join us for the 7th Year Memorial Service in honor of the late Archbishop Dean Zenei Okimura. This significant service will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 2pm in the Koboji Hondo (main hall).

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to hold the customary memorial services in previous years. To honor Archbishop Okimura, the priests of Koyasan Sanboin Temple and others have designated this as a major service. Abbot Zenryu Hidaka, the 520th Hoin of Koyasan, will lead the ceremony, accompanied by 15 other priests from Japan and Hawaii.

During the service, the priests will conduct a formal memorial service for Dean Sensei. Additionally, the Dosha Kaji Hoyo (Ritual of Consecrated Sand) will be performed. This special ritual, being conducted for the first time at Koboji, invokes the Komyo Shingon (Mantra of Light) to create a powerful offering for our departed.

We encourage everyone who has been touched by Dean Sensei’s teachings and support to attend this service with a heart of gratitude and aloha. If you cannot attend in person but wish to make an offering, please include a note with your donation so it can be recorded for the priests.

On-site parking will be limited to the ewa side gravel lot. We encourage you to carpool with friends and family. The attire for the service is aloha. Also, please be aware that the main hall is on the second floor, and there is no elevator access.

残暑の候　ホノルル弘法寺の檀信徒の皆様におかれましてはご清祥のことと存じます。

さて、ホノルル弘法寺では、故沖村全栄大僧正の七回忌と併せて歴代住職と沖村家の供養を土砂加持法要にて執り行わせていただきます。

法要は二〇二四年十一月十六日（土）午後二時より、弘法寺本堂にて行います。

弘法大師の教えに支えられた皆様とともに、この有り難く、特別な法要に心からご参加いただきたく存じます。

​当日は駐車場の数が限られておりますので、可能な限りお友達やご家族とご一緒にお越しください。

服装はアロハカジュアルでお願い致します。
また、本堂は二階にあり、エレベーターはございませんのでご注意ください。
