Membership & Community
Koboji has been sustained by generations of people who pray here, care for the temple, volunteer their time, and help carry its traditions forward.
Membership is one way to deepen your relationship with Koboji and help ensure that the temple remains a spiritual home for generations to come.
You do not need to have grown up Buddhist or already understand Shingon Buddhism to become involved.

If Koboji has become meaningful to you or your family, we welcome you.

Founder
Archbishop Dean Zenei Okimura
Koboji Minnyo Kai carries forward the Bon Dance traditions developed at Koboji by Archbishop Dean Zenei Okimura, the group's founder and Koboji's third resident minister.

Archbishop Dean choreographed many of Koboji's dances, bringing together Japanese folk dance with Buddhist teachings and symbolism. Minnyo Kai members continue to preserve these dances and pass on the teachings and advice that Dean Sensei entrusted to the group.

Practices are held periodically at Koboji. Temple members are welcome to contact us for information about upcoming practices.
