When Can I Visit?
Koboji is staffed daily, but we do not maintain regular public office hours.
Our ministers and staff may be conducting services, visiting families, attending appointments, or caring for other temple responsibilities.
Coming for a scheduled service?
You generally do not need to contact us beforehand unless the event information says otherwise.
Please check our Annual Schedule for regular services and our current event listings for confirmed dates, times, and special events.
Coming at another time?
Please contact us before visiting so we can make sure someone is available to receive you.
This is especially important if you are making a special trip for omamori, goshuin, religious items, or to speak with a minister.

Vehicle access to Koboji is through Loʻi Kalo Lane. The lane is narrow and accommodates traffic in one direction at a time, so please proceed carefully.
On-site parking is available in Koboji's parking areas. Parking may be limited during major services and events. When special parking arrangements are available, they will be included with the event information.
What Should I Expect?
For regular temple services, comfortable and respectful everyday clothing is appropriate. Formal clothing is not required. Some occasions, such as funerals and weddings, may have different expectations.
Accessibility
Koboji's main temple hall, or hondo, is located upstairs and is reached by stairs.
For those who have difficulty using stairs, our downstairs hall is accessible and can accommodate many private services and blessings.
If accessibility is a concern, please contact us before your visit so we can discuss appropriate arrangements.
What Happens During a Service?
Most services include Buddhist chanting, prayers, a short Dharma message, and an opportunity to offer incense.
Services are conducted primarily in English with Buddhist chanting in Japanese. Printed service books are available.
If you are unfamiliar with a chant or custom, you may follow along with others or simply observe.
Temple Courtyard
The temple courtyard is the only part of the temple that is accessible 24/7. You are welcome to come to offer prayers. Please bring your own incense after hours.
Children & Families
Children and families are welcome at Koboji. We understand that children may move, make noise, or need to step outside during a service. Please do not let that prevent your family from attending.
Omamori & Goshuin
Omamori are available throughout the year, although selection varies.
Goshuin may also be available.
