Hoshi Matsuri

2/22/2023

Koboji celebrated Hoshi Matsuri on February 5, 2023. The service was officiated by Archbishop Yagi of Myojo-In Temple in Hiroshima, Japan. The centerpiece of the religious service was the Goma Fire Rite conducted in front of Fudo Myo-o. During the Goma Fire, the congregation prayed for the removal of obstacles for the year ahead.

Following the rituals, the congregation celebrated Mamemaki, or the scattering of beans, to mark the beginning of spring. Members of the Fujinkai distributed hand-made sekihan to the guests who also picked up lucky number prizes.
